Introducing Barwon Coast’s new Committee of Management

Published on 19 December 2025

A new Committee of Management has been appointed by the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) to guide the stewardship of Barwon Coast’s Crown land reserves over the next three years.

Our Committee members bring a rich mix of experience across environmental management, community engagement, cultural heritage, business and governance – strengthening our collective ability to care for and protect the coast.

We warmly welcome back Peter Farrell (Chair), Meredith Blackstock, Stuart Brown and Naomi Wells as returning members, whose knowledge and continuity will be invaluable. We also congratulate Peter Farrell on his appointment as Chair by the Minister.

We are pleased to introduce Gabrielle NagleKaren-Claire McCutcheonLlew Callahan and Kiela Kako as new Committee members, bringing fresh perspectives, energy and insights to the role. With the Committee expanding from seven to eight members, this added capacity will further strengthen Barwon Coast’s governance and leadership.

We sincerely thank outgoing Committee members Sandra Gatehouse, Geraldine Keely and Shelly Fanning for their dedication and years of service in caring for our precious coastline.

The Committee is committed to protecting the coast, respecting Traditional Owners, and engaging openly with the community as we continue this important work together.

Welcome to the team; we look forward to the next chapter for Barwon Coast.
