Damage to Crater toilet block at 13th Beach

Published on 7 October 2026

The Crater public toilet block at the lower car park next to Barwon Heads Thirteenth Beach Surf Life Saving Club has been temporarily closed following significant damage to the building overnight.

The damage appears to have been caused by a vehicle impacting the building at speed, significantly compromising its structural integrity.

For public safety, we have closed the toilet block and secured the area. An urgent building engineering assessment is being undertaken to determine the extent of the structural damage and what works will be required.

Victoria Police have been notified of the incident. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may assist is encouraged to contact Victoria Police.

While the toilet block remains closed, the nearest public toilets are located at Beacon.

Please respect all closure signage and barriers and stay clear of the building while investigations and assessments are underway.

We appreciate the community’s understanding and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
