Cylinders 13th Beach staircase now open

Published on 4 November 2025

ylinders surf break at 13th Beach with reopened access, November 2025.

Barwon Coast is pleased to advise that the works on the beach access stairs at Cylinders at 13th Beach have been completed and is now open to the public.

This upgrade improves safety, accessibility, and long-term resilience of the popular coastal access point.

The Corner beach access stairs replacement

Works are still underway at The Corner access stairs, which are expected to be completed by mid-December 2025.

Thanks to funding from the Victorian Government’s 2024–25 Coastal Public Access and Risk Grants Program, Barwon Coast will replace the aging beach access stairs at the Corner, 13th Beach.

The new stairway will replace a structure more than 25 years old that has been damaged by storms and erosion. The upgrade incorporates feedback from our Accessibility Community Survey and is designed to meet modern safety standards while protecting coastal vegetation.

During construction:

  • The existing stairs are closed. Beach users should use the western stairs instead.
  • A number of car parks at the eastern end are closed for a small works compound.
  • There may be short-term pathway disruptions during material deliveries.

We thank the community for their patience as we continue these important improvements to ensure safe and sustainable coastal access for everyone.
