Barwon Coast
Discovery Centre

Have you visited the Barwon Coast Discovery Centre yet?

Barwon Coast Discovery Centre is a treasure trove for all ages! Explore local marine life, plants, animals, history, geology and shipwrecks.

Housed in the historic ‘Lobster Pot’, the building itself also has a fascinating backstory. It was built in 1934 as a dance hall, then used as a school room in the 1940’s, a scout group’s base in the 1970’s and caravan park booking office in the 1990’s.

The Discovery Centre is run in partnership between Barwon Coast and Friends of The Lobster Pot – a volunteer community group that formed in 1999. Volunteers are passionate about sharing the diverse natural and cultural heritage of Barwon Heads and surrounds.

Entry is by gold coin donation which supports the volunteer group and ongoing updates to the Centre.
