Barwon Coast places a very high value on community education, providing volunteers with access to Professional Development days such as fungi identification, wattle identification, vegetation quadrat surveying techniques, native grasses identification, and responsible pet ownership community awareness days.
Barwon Coast also provides coastal and marine environmental education, free to school groups and organisations, through the use of the Barwon Estuary Heritage Centre; the Education Room, school visits and field activities.
In addition to these programs, a free summer holiday program is offered to children camping in our camp grounds during peak summer season.
Barwon Coast oversees the Bellarine Peninsula community Coastal Moonah Woodland project which has contributed to the production of signage, brochures, and a field guide.
Barwon Coast has developed other field guides and the award winning Kids@ theCoast to assist people with understanding our diverse environments.
