About the role

You will be part of a casual pool who will support all areas of the Coastal Operations Team: Natural Reserve Management, Open Space Management and Facilities and Infrastructure. You will assist our team in a range of different tasks depending on your skills and competencies. Your tasks could include: Performing routine and preventative maintenance; prioritising emergency repairs. Handling tasks like building upkeep; painting; basic plumbing; minor carpentry; vandalism repairs; cleaning and litter collection and graffiti removal. Perform facility cleaning functions across our Caravan Parks; Camping grounds and coastal reserves; including: Amenity Blocks, including cyclic cleaning programs; Camp Kitchens and surrounds and BBQ and picnic areas. Perform grounds keeping duties such as: gardening, planting, pruning, mulching weeding; mow lawns either by hand or using a riding lawnmower; trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls; landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes; apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks, and others and apply fertiliser to grounds to enhance growth. Operating and maintaining heavy plant and machinery, ensuring safe and legal usage. Addressing customer requests promptly and escalating urgent issues.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have: “Hands on” practical maintenance /gardening skills. Ability to operate small hand tools and/or horticultural tools. Experience in identifying and resolving minor maintenance issues. Ability to identify customer needs and expectations, decide the appropriate action and respond accordingly. Possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal with people with professionalism, courtesy, tact and understanding. Ability to work in a team, displaying respect for all members and working cooperatively towards planned outcomes. Qualifications and expertise Trade Certificate and or experience working in general facility maintenance or horticulture/landscaping. Driving Licence (essential – preferably manual), Light Truck Licence (desirable). The following Certificates, Front end loader; Chainsaw (desirable). Demonstrated experience in liaising with members of the public, being well-presented and friendly and having a strong customer service focus including the ability to manage difficult situations positively.
