Hooded plover chicks at the Bluff still thriving

Published on 10 November 2025

We’re happy to share that the two Hooded Plover chicks at the Bluff are still doing well; they are now five days old and growing stronger every day.

You can see a video of one of the chicks here.

The temporary beach closure in place is working as intended, giving this vulnerable family the space and safety they need to hopefully raise their chicks to fledge.

Please continue to help protect these tiny shorebirds by keeping clear of the closure zone, keeping dogs away from nesting areas, and observing from a distance.

Every step back makes a big difference in helping these threatened birds survive.
