Hoodie nest hatches in Ocean Grove

Published on 13 December 2025

Great news — the hooded plover eggs between the Tuckfield Street and Wedge Street beach accesses have successfully hatched.

To give the new chicks the best chance of survival, a temporary exclusion zone is now in place between the two beach accesses. A detour is available along the inland coastal trail.

Please help protect the chicks by:

  • Following signs and avoiding exclusion zones

  • Keeping dogs leashed and out of exclusion areas

  • Walking close to the water’s edge

Every small action helps protect these vulnerable coastal birds and ensures they have the space they need to grow strong and take flight.
