We are pleased to announce the successful completion of repair works on the Barwon Heads Main Jetty. The project, funded by an $80,000 investment from the Victorian State Government, was finished in June 2024.
The maintenance work involved replacing timber decking and capping, ensuring the jetty remains safe and accessible for both locals and visitors to the Bellarine Peninsula. This investment is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to revitalising piers and jetties in coastal communities across Victoria.
The importance of this project was recently highlighted in a Victorian State Government media release about investments in South West ports, with Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora saying, “Investing in Port Fairy wharf and Barwon Heads Main Jetty means we’re ensuring these iconic sites remain cornerstones of our coastal communities.”
The newly refurbished Main Jetty will continue to serve as a focal point for our community, supporting recreational activities and enhancing the visitor experience in Barwon Heads. We thank the Victorian Government for their support in maintaining this vital piece of coastal infrastructure and for recognising its importance to our community.
