Barwon Coast’s hard working Coastal Maintenance Team have been busy ensuring public facilities and infrastructure along our coast are ready for peak season.
The toilet block at Ocean Grove Main Beach has been refurbished and is once again open to the public. The completed restoration works funded by Barwon Coast include a new roof covering, new internal fixtures, sandblasting and recoating of structural steel that had been impacted by the salt-laden air, replacement of rusted door frames and doors, relining of shower walls and repainting.
New terracing works at Main Beach including an irrigation system, warm season grass, furniture and new drinking fountains with dog water bowls have also been completed. These works were funded in partnership with Barwon Water under a joint sustainable water initiative.
Other works soon to be finished include the resurfacing of car parks that were heavily impacted by wet weather and new beach access stairs and coastal trails at 17W and 12W.
Unfortunately, the Barwon Bluff viewing area remains closed for public safety. A Geotech investigation is currently underway to determine the extent of instability caused by a recent landslip.
Thank you for your patience while we make continuous improves coastal facilities and infrastructure. We ask that the public to always keep out of the construction zones and observe all safety signage.
