Path closure at Breamlea

Published on 8 December 2025

Barwon Coast wishes to advise that we were notified of possible asbestos fragments on and around the path between Breamlea Caravan Park and the Bancoora Beach car park.

Barwon Coast staff immediately attended the site and, using appropriate protective equipment, collected samples for testing. Testing has confirmed the presence of asbestos.

As a precautionary measure, the path has been temporarily closed while we work through an appropriate action plan to address the issue. We understand this may be inconvenient for regular users, and we thank the community for their patience and understanding while this matter is resolved.

This matter has been reported to the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and Victoria Police for further investigation. Some fragments appear inconsistent with the surrounding environment, and the community is urged to report any suspicious activity to Victoria Police, Barwon Coast or the EPA.

The safety of our community, visitors and staff remains our highest priority. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
