Share our Shores Program

Barwon Coast launched the Share Our Shores Program in 2017. Share Our Shores focuses on all aspects of equitable beach use.

Through Share our Shores we hope to inspire our local community and partner organisations to promote the respect, responsibilities and rights that are important in minimising conflict between different beach users.

The Barwon Coast coastal reserve covers Collendina, Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads and 13th Beach. This is an extremely popular section of the Victorian coastline. Share Our Shores is about encouraging everyone to help Barwon Coast balance the huge visitor numbers with protection of the natural values of the coast.

The Share Our Shores Program is used as a banner program. We apply it to a variety of our management actions including gathering data on community experiences and viewpoints on beach use, dog control orders, dune protection and education initiatives. Share Our Shores helps educate and inspire everyone to ‘Share Our Shores’ in order to respect the coast and respect other beachgoers.
