Barwon Coast is pleased to announce that Stage 2 of our emergency marker implementation is now underway, with all new markers activated in the Triple Zero (000) system.
Following community feedback, we fast-tracked the installation of beach-level emergency markers to provide comprehensive safety coverage along our coastline. Installation of these new, larger sized markers will be completed within two weeks.
The enhanced system includes:
- Additional emergency markers at beach level
- Local location names on each marker
- Full integration with Triple Zero (000)
- Improved emergency service response capabilities
“This completion of our emergency marker network significantly improves safety along our coastline,” said Barwon Coast CEO, Gareth Smith. “The new system helps emergency services locate people quickly and accurately during emergencies.”
Each emergency marker displays:
- A unique location code
- Local beach name
- Clear visibility from both beach and access points
The markers are part of a Victorian Government initiative to standardise emergency response systems, ensuring faster and more accurate emergency service responses.
