Temporary partial closure of Main Jetty eastern end

Published on 3 August 2026

The eastern end of Main Jetty in Barwon Heads has been temporarily closed following a recent structural assessment that identified issues requiring repair.

The closure is necessary to protect public safety while essential repair works are undertaken.

We know this temporary closure will be disappointing for the many locals and visitors who enjoy fishing, walking and taking in the views from this much-loved part of the jetty. However, the safety of our community and visitors must always come first.

Repair works are expected to take approximately 6–8 weeks, weather and site conditions permitting.

During this time, we ask everyone to:

  • Respect all fencing and closure signage
  • Do not enter the closed section of the jetty
  • Follow any directions provided by staff or contractors.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while these important safety works are completed. Updates will be provided if the expected timeframe changes.

For the safety of all jetty users, the eastern end of the jetty will remain closed until repairs have been completed and the area has been assessed as safe to reopen.
